The Midlands Orthopaedic lectures have served as a staple in my CPD over the last couple of years. They are always very professionally organised and run. The information is current and directly correlates with my clinical practice as a Physio. There is plenty of opportunity to ask questions and suggest future sessions relevant to clinical practice.

As a podiatrist it’s always good to learn about other pathways of treatment to support patients.

it was a really good talk and helped me understand the impingment and rotator cuff and how to atleast be able to differentiat the 2. also initial management for stiff shoulder.

The Birmingham Knee & Shoulder Clinic and the Midland Orthopaedic Practice run an excellent CPD programme, delivered by their Consultants and facilitated by Michelle Gallinagh, Business Manager. Frequently attended by and aimed at manual therapists, GP's and others.

I've been attending free online webinars delivered by Midland Orthopaedic Practice since COVID. I feel privileged to be able to partake in such excellent sessions led by the most amazing consultants. Sessions are very informative yet delivered in a simple, easy to understand way to reach wider group of healthcare professionals. Special thanks to Michelle for organising, leading the sessions and providing slides and certificates. I have been recommending MOP to my colleagues and will not hesitate to reach for help in case of any ortho issues. Thank you!

Really interesting and, more importantly, essential topics covered in these Zoom online sessions. As clinicians we all want to be up to date with current practices. It is so useful to have clear teaching on what works, and sometimes doesn't, in surgical practice. When it comes to best advising our patients of what Consultant to see and what questions to ask, these talks are wonderfully helpful. The Zoom format works well for me as I am far away in Dorset. Michelle is incredibly efficient and welcoming, and always responds quickly to any query. Well done!

Re "Knees the bigger picture: How to interpret and decipher an MRI report in your own practice." by Mr Green. Really excellent talk with good tips on reading knee MRIs and crucially on how to interpret the findings/reports in the clinical context. Thank you for providing this.

Very well presented webinar by Mr Greene, clear explanations of knee MRI findings with application to case studies.
Only further comment would be that it would be better if a link to the webinar was given rather than just slides with no associated commentary.

Superb Lecture from Mr. Marcus Green about MRI of the knee tonight. He shared very insightful details and keenly answered all questions. Michelle facilitated the lecture smoothly as well. Overall, 10/10. Keep up the good work.

I would highly recommend taking part within these zoom sessions, the information provided is well presented and is relevant for a wide variety of health care professionals. Furthermore, the discussions afterwards are insightful and extremely useful. The sessions are easy to access, easy to use and provide a welcoming environment. I have just viewed a presentation regarding the knee and thoroughly enjoyed observing the scans and listening to discussions regarding injections and physiotherapy techniques used within treatment. These sessions definitely deserve five stars.

Really good presentation, thanks Mr Massoud, really useful as I work with an amateur rugby team and I have had 3x shoulder dislocations this season.

The lecture programme year on year delivers excellent continuous professional development to a plethora of medical professionals. It is a friendly, interactive forum where podiatrists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and doctors are able to discuss current evidence based practice, learn new concepts, and skills. Time is given by the consultants to address questions from the attendees, which is always worth listening to for those clinical pearls. Oh and it is free! It is a credit to the team organising and delivering the lectures. Thank you.

As with all your evening lectures in my interest area of the lower limb, this lecture was clearly knowledgeably presented with interesting cases and excellent images.

Excellent presentation, with just the right information. It was very useful having the research results for biceps tenodesis and tenotomy, and simplified explanation of the procedures.

There was good coverage of classification of the grade of SLAP lesion and the suggested management of each.

It would have been useful to have covered post operative Physiotherapy rehabilitation protocols.

It was good to look at the LHB as it is quite often mentioned on scan results as tenosynovitis/tendinitis, but other problems are prioritised.

It was really good to have had the opportunity to ask questions.

I have been attending these seminars for the last few years. In person initially and at the moment over Zoom. For anyone interested in MSK medicine they are a great source of revision, new information and developments in Orthopaedic medicine. The speakers are excellent, presentation materials are clear and relevant and are available in a .pdf form for the participants. A credit to the organiser Michelle and all of the consultants.

I highly recommend you attend these seminars even if they cover areas of MSK medicine not in your own speciality.

The Shoulder injection presentation with Mr. Learmonth was so informative. I love that he used the videos and photos to show the anatomy which went well with the presentation. Well organised, easily understandable and answered each and every question.

Absolutely fantastic. I work as an NHS musculoskeletal physiotherapist and these FREE webinars have been very interesting and informative. The consultants who conduct the webinars know their field entirely and the set up by Michelle is very professional and organised in order for these webinars to be conducted. I hope these continue as I will be attending a lot more in the future if possible.

It has been a pleasure to have seen many of your information sharing seminars. I have found them to offer useful and practical information, imparted in an easy to understand and uplifting manner. I enjoy going to seminars but having attended these from the comfort of my own home is fantastic. These sessions are informative and informally run. They are extremely useful for gaining a better understanding of current orthopaedic surgical approaches.
I have found them very useful for my physiotherapy students to access if they want to gain a greater depth of knowledge in these areas.

Thanks for organising another fantastic CPD event. These ‘lockdown’ sessions have been great, especially as the focus has been on conservative management in primary care settings - so directly related to my practice! The comprehensive knowledge of the speakers is second to none with their overview of the subject, discussion of the evidence and their review of the current situation is really helpful. In the five years that I have been under the care of Mr Hussain for Partial Knee Replacement surgery to both knees I would be very happy to recommend him to anyone contemplating this surgery in the future , His Kindly manner and general expertise are to be especially recommended.

I found Mr Green to straight talking and willing to openly discuss the surgical options available to me. His competence as a surgeon allowed to return to full time professional football. 48 years old Self employed Builder

My shoulder is brilliant, no pain whatsoever I am working flat out 12 hours a day, just finished building a house with my son....

I tore the tendon in my shoulder when I fell off a ladder at work 2 years ago.It was very painful. I had a scan and an open operation to repair the tendon, but I was in more pain than ever , I still could not work. The surgeon suggested another operation.. that's when I asked my GP to send me to a Shoulder Specialist.

I saw Mr. Learmonth who sorted the tear out by micro surgery (Keyhole) and the shoulder soon became more comfortable and the shoulder is now brilliant. I feel I wasted 2 years trying to get better following the first operation which made me worse. Having a specialist clinic for shoulders makes sure you know your surgeon knows what he is doing!

As a local resident, I really appreciated having the Shoulder Clinic at the Priory Hospital in my area.

The speed in which my case was looked at was impressive - it seemed like no time from the initial referral to the operation. The keyhole surgery was carried out without too much discomfort and the recovery time was minimal.

Being a guitarist, any shoulder problems are a real cause for concern, but thanks to Duncan Learmonth and his team at the Priory Hospital, my shoulder is now considerably improved.

Given the number of people I have spoken to who have similar problems, I think a specialist clinic is really important for the Birmingham area.

Professional Bodybuilder

My name is Ernie Taylor I am a professional bodybuilder by trade, I also write a monthly column on training and nutrition in the flex magazine. I have had shoulder problems since 1994, I searched high and low for a top surgeon but wasn't so successful as my first surgery was in 1997 and so to speak it wasn't very good.

I was recommended to Dr Duncan Learmonth in 1999, my career was on the line as I could no longer be active in the sport, and shoulders were so bad I had problems clothing myself; I went from bodybuilder to invalid. Mr Learmonth operated on my left shoulder in April 1999, and then the right shoulder in July 1999.

To cut a long story short I was back to lifting weights within 6 months of surgery, I felt great shoulder were fantastic it was as if I was touched by the hand of God so to speak, I became competitive once again and by no time I was ranked No 1 in Europe and top 8 in the world.

4th July 2004 I was in a motor cycle road traffic accident where my shoulder didn't take kindly to the kerb, giving me an 8 cm tear of the supraspinatus and Infraspinatus. I was once again in search of Dr Learmonth as the previous 5 yrs my shoulders have been 100%, by the 8th July Dr Learmonth got me in through a cancellation just before he went away on a 2 week vacation, and to be quite honest I would have waited with the pain for him to return before seeing anyone else.
