How quickly can I be seen?
Once a referral has been made by your general practitioner or physiotherapist, you will be contacted and an appointment convenient to you arranged.
The Birmingham Knee & Shoulder Clinic has a clinic every day of the week & on Saturdays. Urgent appointments can be arranged on the same or next day. Even if your consultant is away, you can be seen urgently by one of the other consultants if required.
How quickly can my condition be investigated?
All investigations including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) & Ultrasound scans are organised on the day of your appointment for the week after your appointment. All investigations are carried out at The Priory Hospital.
What if I need physiotherapy?
This can be arranged with the specialist Knee & Shoulder physiotherapists at The Priory Hospital. The Birmingham Knee & Shoulder clinic also works closely with specialist Knee & Shoulder physiotherapists around the Midlands & treatment, if available, can be organised closer to your home.
What if I need an operation?
The facilities available to the Birmingham Knee & Shoulder clinic at The Priory Hospital theatres are second to none. Private rooms with modern facilities and excellent hospital staff will make your stay as pleasant as possible.
What about alternative medicine?
At the Birmingham Knee & Shoulder Clinic we believe that conventional medicine may not have all the answers. Provided your condition is investigated and diagnosed by conventional medicine, alternative medicine such as acupuncture, osteopathy & homeopathy may compliment your conventional treatment.
How much will my treatment cost?
If you have health insurance, you will have to check with your insurance provider if you are covered for consultation, investigation or a specific operation, if surgery is proposed. Provided you are covered, all the Birmingham Knee & Shoulder Clinic charges will be paid by your insurer.
If you have no health insurance, your initial consultation will be charged at £200 and further follow up consultations at £110. If an injection is required, an additional charge of £120 will be made (please note that for injection patients a further charge will be made by the hospital for the injected materials of approximately £80). If you require surgery, fixed price packages are available for your operation through your chosen hospital.
